Strengthening Karen Community in Philadelphia

Who we are

KCAP was formed by Karen community leaders in 2024 to help meet the needs that Karen and other Myanmar refugees face from language barriers, technology accessibility, food insecurity, social isolation, and healing from the traumas of prolonged forced displacement. By building on successful models from other cities, we strive to build a sustainable support network, ensuring that all Karen people, especially elders and those most vulnerable to institutional neglect can access the resources they need to thrive.

Arts and Culture

We are preserving Karen culture through dancing, weaving, language preservation, and the celebration of traditional Karen holidays

Farming and Food Access Program

Preserving Karen Agricultural Traditions, Providing Access to Traditional Vegetables

Community Resources

Our goal is to expand community resources and be able to offer increased access to translation assistance, English language classes, mentorship and job training, and support groups for parents, elders, youth, and men. We are working to raise funds to meet the large need in our community.

Weekly Office Hours (Started January 2025)

Every Monday 10 AM - 4 PM we are available in Bok Building room 413 to meet with community members to assist with translation and answer questions.
